I was given a brief as part of a collaboration to design 3 Japanese fish shaped kites in celebration for Japan's Children's Day, one to represent Israeli culture, One to Represent Japanese culture, and one that is a mix of both. Since the kites were to be displayed at the Tikotin Museum during Children's Day, I tried to find something that would speak to children - children's stories. I browsed both Japanese and Israeli children's stories, and settled on the story of "Mitz Petel" (Raspberry Juice) for the Israeli kite, and "Momotaro" (Peach boy) for the Japanese Kite.

Both "Mitz Petel" and "Momotaro" feature distinct animal characters, and the original publication of "Mitz Petel" features a distinct and iconic color selection. These elements were, on one hand, a challenge, since I had to create illustrations that pay homage to them yet still be unique, and on the other hand, a blessing, since they gave me the beginning for my creative direction. I also had to create a kite that combines both Israeli and Japanese cultures, so I settled on a typographic kite.

I created a 3d render of the kites, showcasing their full potential when the wind is strong and the kites wave while inflated with air.
